Family and Community Engagement (FACE)
2025-2026 Chairs: Thao Doan and Melissa Geng
The goals of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) program are for each and every child and family in a community to feel as though they are part of Medina PTA, and for our PTA to be an active part of the community in which it resides.

What we do

- Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive community within our school.
- Strengthen and nurture positive connections among teachers, staff, administrators, families, and community partners.
- Engage in community service initiatives to support and uplift the larger community.
WHY JOIN FACE
- Connect with fellow families at Medina Elementary.
- Volunteer in community projects, giving your child the chance to work with others and make a positive impact.
- Create a nurturing community where your children can flourish both academically and socially-emotionally.
PREVIOUS FACE SERVICES

FACE and Medina Elementary families have worked with many non-profit organizations on community service events. A few past examples are shown below.
- Meals on Wheels
- This program delivers food to seniors who have difficulty shopping or cooking. Medina Elementary students made and decorated placemats, which were delivered to seniors together with food.
- Hopelink
- Medina parents volunteer to bring clean food from our school cafeteria to donate at Hopelink to help low-income families. In 2024-2025, Medina donated 2,731 pounds of food to Hopelink.
- Seattle Children’s Hospital
- Students made and donated treasure box kits for patients and families in need.
- Seattle Union Gospel
- Medina families donate coats to keep people warm during the winter months.
- Birthday Dreams
- Students made party hats for kids in unstable housing, and a speaker came to the school and gave students an educational presentation and Q&A.
- Bellevue LifeSpring
- In Bellevue School District, 4324 children are facing hunger. Students packed breakfast and snacks in backpacks, and donated to Bellevue School District’s children in need during school breaks.
